HAOCHEN ZHANG PIANO RECITAL

Pianist Haochen Zhang, who won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at the age of 19 and has been described as “an artist of rare talent” by Gramophone, gives a solo recital featuring two emotional piano sonatas: Schumann’s first, a deeply personal work that the composer dedicated to his future wife, Clara Wieck, and Beethoven’s next-to-last, which the French composer Vincent d’Indy described as “an exertion of will to banish suffering.”
