Liang-Ping How — Violin

Since 1980, Liang-Ping has been a member of the renowned Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, touring extensively throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and appearing frequently as both soloist and concertmaster of the conductor-less ensemble. His artistry has been featured at major festivals including Caramoor, Spoleto, Lochenhaus, and Moab, as well as with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, New York Philomusica at the International Music Festival of Sophia, and as a guest soloist with the New Mexico Symphony.

In addition to his long-standing role with Orpheus, Liang-Ping has served as concertmaster of the Sarasota Opera since 2005 and is regularly engaged as concertmaster with the Monterey Symphony. A child prodigy, he made his solo debut at age seven with the National Youth Orchestra of Taiwan and later pursued formal studies at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Curtis Institute of Music under the guidance of Jaime Laredo.

Liang-Ping’s performances can be heard on numerous Deutsche Grammophon recordings with Orpheus. He is also a member of both the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. He resides in Santa Fe and performs on an 1863 J.B. Vuillaume violin.
