PETER WILEY & ANNA POLONSKY RECITAL
Anna Polonsky — Piano
Anna Polonsky is widely sought after as both a soloist and chamber musician. She has collaborated with the Guarneri, Orion, Juilliard, and Shanghai Quartets, and with leading artists including Mitsuko Uchida, Yo-Yo Ma, Richard Goode, and Emanuel Ax. Her performances have taken her to many of the world’s most prestigious concert venues, among them the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Vienna Konzerthaus, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall’s Stern, Weill, and Zankel Halls. She has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, and is a frequent guest of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, where she was a member of Chamber Music Society Two from 2002 to 2004. Her artistry has been recognized with a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award.
Ms. Polonsky made her piano debut at age seven at the Special Central Music School in Moscow, Russia, before emigrating to the United States in 1990. She attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, studied with Peter Serkin at the Curtis Institute of Music, and later earned a degree at the Juilliard School under Jerome Lowenthal. In addition to her performing career, she is on the piano faculty at Vassar College, and teaches during the summers at the Marlboro and Kneisel Hall chamber music festivals.
An avid chamber musician, Ms. Polonsky is a member of the Espressivo! Piano Quartet alongside violinist Jaime Laredo, violist Milena Pájaro-van de Stadt, and cellist Sharon Robinson. She also performs regularly with the Polonsky-Shifrin-Wiley Trio, with clarinetist David Shifrin and cellist Peter Wiley.
This season, she returns for her third appearance as soloist with the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium.
Ms. Polonsky is a Steinway Artist.
